Parrots can celebrate in all your special events. They are a family member that enjoys being a part of your joys and celebrations. They too have their own birth (hatch) dates to celebrate, they love the sounds of celebrative music, and all the activities that take place with each special event. Allow them to participate in bird-safe foods, treats, and activities at all possible events:
On Valentine's... Easter... Halloween...
Thanksgiving... Independence Day...
Christmas... And of course their own birthdays! Zachary also shares in all our family celebrations and holiday events:
On special holidays, allow your parrots to participate in the festivities. At easter you can buy them plastic eggs and fill them with bits of peanuts or treats that they can amuse themselves with:
Give them holiday bird-safe things to play with while you decorate your house on special occasions. Let them share the fun with you, but always supervise them to keep them safe. No different than watching a two year old child.
Certain types of holiday food and treats can be offered to birds. At Christmastime, raw mixed nuts are a fun treat; hard boiled eggs at Easter make a great dinner item; pumpkins at Halloween, mashed potatoes and boiled (unbuttered) carrots are great at Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
